No judgement, no expectations - we're here to help!

We have worked with so many owners who didn't think it was possible for their dog to change. They thought they were stuck, and when your dog's a big part of your family for over a decade - that's a long time to tolerate a dog with bad manners, who won't listen, who you can't take out with you for whatever reason!

At Muddy Paws, we get excited by helping dog owners teach their dogs how to be even better family members. Our training method is fast and effective and when followed correctly can achieve amazing results within weeks.

Matt and Shermalie have spent hours upon hours helping owners train and shape their dogs and have seen almost everything. They approach each of their clients as individuals with very specific needs and they listen to what's going on, asking questions as they go, before assessing the situation and making recommendations. They approach each new client with an open, friendly and compassionate attitude because, chances are, they've been through what you're going through either in person with one of their foster dogs or with a past client who they've helped.

Obedience, manners + behavioural problems - there's nothing we can't help you with!

When your dog can do obedience exercises to a very high level, no matter what else is happening, then it knows to listen to you, it knows you matter. So it's more likely it'll do the things you need it to do like come back when called. Achieving this high level of obedience also means your dog is better placed to be taught how it should and shouldn't behave. If it listens to you with its obedience, it's more likely to learn the harder things properly.

We can help you and your dog learn:

  • How to redefine your relationship, getting your dog to listen to you, that you matter and that they need to respect you
  • Sit, drop and stand on the first command, reliably, and to hold it no matter where you go or what distractions are around
  • Recall from distraction
  • Heeling + auto halt, teaching your dog to walk nicely by your side
  • Check position so when you're at the vet your dog will calmly lie on it's side ready for its check up
  • Manners around food, guests, doorways and boundaries
  • How to be calm when in the car and manners around getting in and out of the car
  • How to walk nicely on lead
  • How to permanently fix annoying behaviours such as barking, licking, jumping up, over excitability, pushiness, etc
  • How to permanently fix problem behaviours such as all forms of agression, separation anxiety, destruction of property, barging at the fence, timidness, escaping the property, etc
  • How to live nicely with other family members including the elderly, young children and other pets
  • How to fit into your world rather than you adjusting your life around your dog's behaviours
And anything else you need help with!

What we expect from you

We know what we do is fun, easy and very effective, but we also know it has the best chance of working when you're completely on board. It's because of this that we only take on new clients who are committed to our process and are prepared to follow it to the letter, to give your dog every chance possible of being the dog you need it to be. If we feel you won't be a good fit or that you can't commit to implementing the skills we teach you, we'll tell you upfront - we don't want to waste your money or our time.
